University of Scholars Proctor’s Office is committed to ensuring a safe teaching and learning environment for every student and faculty member through advocacy, counseling, and scrutiny. The office is responsible for ensuring student discipline and maintaining campus civility.

 

The Proctorial Body, consisting of one Proctor and five Assistant Proctors, has the authority to the application of discipline at the university and at any event that is organized under the university banner, inside or outside the premises. The office ensures that there is no violation of the Code of Conduct for students.

 

Proctor’s office deals with unique disciplinary violations of sexual harassment, drug abuse, physical abuse, academic dishonesty, theft, violence, property damage, deception, disobedience, tarnishing the image of the university, etc. Students facing any conflict/disciplinary misconduct inside the campus by another student or a group of students can meet and lodge a complaint to the assistant proctor/proctor. Each case that comes to the proctor’s office is usually unique in nature that requires special attention and confidentiality from the members of the proctorial body. Assistant proctors with assistance by the proctor listens to the victim and the assailant, take written statement/confession from both ends, further investigate (if required) and takes action according to the stated code of conduct for students. The complaints are dealt with privacy following due diligence. Extremely serious cases that violate the code of conduct for students and may require strict punishments are referred to the Disciplinary Committee, the apex body related to disciplinary matters concerning students.

 

All the members of the proctorial body sincerely oversee the movements of students so that no one breaks the stated code of conduct for students. On top of managing regular complaints, one assistant proctor is assigned each day for campus surveillance. The responsible assistant proctor for a particular day makes several rounds across different places within the campus to ensure campus civility.
