The Department of Textile Engineering is equipped with five (5) labs among which four of them are present at the International University of Scholars campus and only one lab is located outdoors.
The Yarn Manufacturing lab is located in room 101 on campus. In this lab, students are able to learn about the yarn manufacturing processes. They can learn how to make a lap, sliver, roving, and yarns with the functions of different parts of various machinery.
A Fabric Manufacturing lab in room 1204 on campus is open to all departmental students. It has a semi-automatic power loom (Dobby loom), socks-making machine, flat V-bed knitting machine, Linking Machine, and circular knitting machine. Students can learn how to make plain woven fabrics, and knit fabrics practically with different designs.
On the 14th floor (1401 no. room) A Wet Processing Lab is situated. A sample dyeing machine with the required dyes, chemicals, and pieces of equipment is placed in the wall decoration. Also Printing equipment, and chemicals are available. In this lab, students can dye and print different types of fabrics in various pragmatic ways.
An Apparel Manufacturing Lab is located on the 20th floor, 2001 number room which is designed with various automatic apparel manufacturing machineries such as industrial plain sewing, flatlock, 4 threads overlock, and Kansai stitch machines. These machineries are used to prepare shirts, pants, T-shirts, polo shirts, etc. With these practical practices and machines, students are able to learn to make all types of garments.
Another important lab for the department is the Textile Testing and Quality Control Lab which is located on the 12th floor in room number 1202. There are various textile testing machines that are available for students to test the yarn count, strength, fabric counting, fabric thickness, color fastness to rubbing, GSM test, moisture, TPI, and color fastness assessment with greyscale, etc.
In the near future, the Department of Textile Engineering is planning to add more required facilities with modern equipment such as an automatic printing machine and spectrophotometer for color fastness and accurate recipe calculation of the coloration process in the above-mentioned laboratories.
